Islamiyat Teacher

Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Islamiyat Teacher to join our school community and guide young students in their understanding of Islamic principles, values, and practices. The ideal candidate will have a deep knowledge of Islamic teachings, a nurturing teaching approach, and the ability to create a respectful and inclusive learning environment for students in grades 1 through 5.

Responsibilities:

1. Curriculum Development: Develop a comprehensive and age-appropriate Islamiyat curriculum that aligns with Islamic teachings and values, focusing on building students’ understanding of Islamic beliefs, history, ethics, and practices.
2. Lesson Planning: Create engaging lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities, integrating stories, discussions, and activities that promote understanding and application of Islamic concepts.
3. Teaching Islamic Values: Teach students about the importance of Islamic values such as kindness, compassion, honesty, and respect for others, while encouraging them to apply these values in their daily lives.
4. Islamic History and Culture: Introduce students to the history of Islam, including the life of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and key events in Islamic history, fostering an appreciation for the cultural and historical aspects of Islam.
5. Prayer and Rituals: Provide guidance on Islamic rituals, including prayer, fasting, and charity, while encouraging a sense of devotion and understanding of the spiritual significance behind these practices.
6. Ethical and Moral Education: Discuss ethical dilemmas and moral choices from an Islamic perspective, helping students develop a strong sense of right and wrong according to Islamic teachings.
7. Respect for Diversity: Foster an atmosphere of respect for cultural and religious diversity, promoting tolerance and understanding among students.
8. Parent Communication: Maintain open communication with parents or guardians to update them on students’ progress, participation in Islamic activities, and areas for potential growth.
9. Classroom Environment: Create a safe and respectful classroom environment where students feel comfortable discussing and exploring their questions about Islam.
10. Integration of Technology: Utilize technology and multimedia resources to enhance students’ engagement and understanding of Islamic concepts.
11. Collaboration: Collaborate with other teachers and school staff to ensure a cohesive educational experience and contribute to the overall development of the institution.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Islamic Studies, Education, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
• Knowledge of Islamic teachings, history, and ethics.
• Teaching certification or credentials.
• Experience in teaching Islamiyat or Islamic Studies to students in grades 1-5.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Respectful and empathetic demeanor.
• Ability to create an inclusive and culturally sensitive learning environment.
• Proficiency in using teaching aids to enhance learning.
